What To Expect During Your DOT Exam Visit

Is this your first time taking a DOT physical exam? Whether it’s your first or your nth time, it’s nice to know what to expect.

If anything is assured, expect to be in great hands with our staff at NE DOT Physicals. But to know more about the step-by-step process of taking a DOT exam, read on to find out!

We are trained and certified as state-certified driver examiners in accordance with the Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines. They are the only official body that governs and dictates the laws surrounding commercial motor vehicle operations and those who are allowed to drive them.

If you want to get your commercial driver’s license (CDL) and take a job driving commercially, a DOT medical card is a must-have.

Worry not because we at NE DOT Physicals will take care of the nitty-gritty of all your DOT physical requirements.

All you need to do is book an appointment and show up for your DOT physical exam.

We will guide you through all the requirements as dictated by the Department of Transportation.

This includes testing your vision, blood sugar, reflexes, etc. Visit our state-of-the-art facility in Massachusetts, where we offer DOT physical exams for various professions.

What To Expect At Your Visit

  • Keep your lines open and follow all instructions in the texts and emails we send you.
  • Arrive no more than 10 minutes prior to your appointment time.
  • Dress comfortably to make the blood pressure screening easy.
  • The practitioner will then proceed with performing an examination, including:
  • A review of your health history and medications.
  • Urine test to screen for sugar, blood & protein (not a drug test)
  • Physical exam including height, weight, vision, hearing, blood pressure, pulse rate, breathing, eyes, ears, etc…
  • Finally, your level of certification (2 years maximum) will be determined after the exam. Unless further documentation or testing is required, you will leave with your medical card.
  • If you are still required to have additional tests, your status will temporarily be marked as “pending”. This will be lifted once documentation is received and/or testing is completed.

Our knowledgeable and friendly staff is ready to assist with your registration process.

We know how daunting the word “exam” makes it seem, so our great staff will also be on standby to reassure you that you are only a few steps away from your DOT health card!

Our certified medical examiners will make sure you have all you need to finally be a CDL holder.
